Day 1. Depart U.S.A for Athens, Greece

Day 2. Arrive Athens, Greece (D)
Arrive today in Athens. A representative will meet you at the airport and help you transfer to your hotel.
This evening we will gather for a welcome dinner at the hotel and meet our Tour Director. Our Tour Director will also give us a short orientation of the exciting activities ahead

Dinner and overnight at the Divani Caravel or similar

Day 3. Athens, Greece (B,D)
After breakfast enjoy a tour which includes a visit to the ancient Acropolis and the Parthenon.
We will see Syntagma Square, which contains the Parliament Building and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We will also pass by Omonia Square, the city’s oldest public square.
Enjoy lunch on your own in Plaka. Our tour continues as we visit a local grade school. Then we will visit and learn about the Olympic venues. The tour will end in the early afternoon at the hotel.

Day 4. Athens, Greece (B,D)
After breakfast, you’ll have the day free to discover more of Athens’s treasures at your own pace.
Or join us for an optional Art Heritage in Greece tour. You’ll spend the afternoon at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, learning about the rich traditions and legacy of the artistic culture in Greece.
This evening we have an included Athens by night tour, where you will see famous landmarks illuminated under the night sky and view the streets in the different atmosphere of the city’s active nightlife. The cost of this tour includes dinner at a local restaurant /taverna with folk music and dancing.

Day 5. Athens, Greece (B)
Today is at your leisure, or you can join an optional day trip to Cape Sounion. You’ll take a beautiful drive overlooking the Aegean Sea to visit the hilltop Temple of Poseidon.

Day 6. Embark on Cruise (B,L,D)
After breakfast, you’ll transfer to the Athens port of Piraeus where you’ll embark on your cruise ship, setting sail for Mykonos in the late morning.
Relax over lunch onboard.
Your early evening port of call is Mykonos, where you will have free time to explore. The ship sails again around 9 pm, with dinner served onboard.

Day 7. Cruise (B,L,D)
After breakfast you dock at Kusadasi, Turkey—your gateway to Ephesus. An optional shore excursion will take you to many monuments: the Forum, the Odeon, and the Library of Celsus. See the Thermal Baths of Scolastika, the Great Theater where St. Paul preached, and the Arcadian way. Return to the boat for lunch and your cruise continues to Patmos, Greece. The ship calls at the port of Scala, where you can explore the island on your own or join an optional tour of the Grotto and Monastery of St. John. You set sail again during dinner.

Day 8. Cruise (B,L,D)
Arrive this morning in Rhodes and you will have a full day to spend as you wish. You may choose to wander on your own, or you may want to take an optional shore excursion to Lindos to visit the ancient Acropolis there. Join us back on the boat for lunch, then renew your independent explorations during the afternoon. or join the optional tour of the Old Town of Rhodes.
At about 5:30 we set sail for Crete, with dinner onboard.

Day 9. Cruise (B,L,D)
Early today, you dock at Heraklion on the island of Crete. This morning is at leisure, or join us on an optional tour to see Heraklion.
By late morning, you set sail and enjoy lunch. Late this afternoon, if weather permits, you’ll disembark the ship in Santorini. Enjoy the island on your own or join us for an optional tour of the island. Your ship sets sail again later this evening in time for dinner.

Day 10. Kalambaka, Greece (B,D)
After our ship arrives back in Athens, we’ll depart this morning to Kalambaka. En route we stop for lunch on your own near the town of Lamia. We will also stop and enjoy some of the local flavor with a Wine & Cheese tasting at a winery. Kalambaka is a small town set picturesquely at the foot of the towering gray cliffs where the Pinios River flows down from the Pindus Mountains.
The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 11. Kalambaka, Greece (B)

Today you’ll venture into the rocks that tower over the town of Kalambaka where the “hanging” monasteries of Meteora are located. After lunch on your own, you are welcome to join us for a visit to the School of Byzantine Icon Painting, or you can return to your hotel and have the afternoon free. Tonight we go together into town, where you'll have the opportunity to dine at a local restaurant on your own. The remainder of the evening is at leisure.

Day 12. Arachova, Greece (B,D)

After breakfast at your hotel, we depart for Arachova.
En-route, we will make a stop to visit the ancient site of the Oracle of Delphi. We stop near Delphi for lunch on your own and spend time early this afternoon at the Museum of Delphi.
After checking into the hotel in Arachova, you can then join us in a Greek Cooking Demonstration and learn about the essential flavors and ingredients that make the culinary experience of Greece so unique. Dinner is included tonight at the hotel.

Day 13. Arachova, Greece (B)
Today we have an in-depth tour of the ancient site of Delphi. As you stroll through the ruins, you’ll admire its idyllic setting, perched on a hill overlooking valleys and overlooked by Apollo’s sacred Mount Parnassus.
Afterwards, you’ll have free time to have lunch on your own and see a little more of the area at your leisure.
In early evening you’ll have free time in Arachova, during which you can explore the village and have dinner on your own.

Day 14. Olympia, Greece (B,D)
Today you’ll travel along the coast and take a short ferry ride, beginning your explorations of the Peloponnese Peninsula. After lunch on your own, we’ll continue our drive and arrive in the charming town of modern Olympia.
This evening, you can discover the musical rhythm of the region by coming to a performance of Greek Folk Dances. Sit back and enjoy the lyrical tones of the bouzouki, the Greek mandolin, which traces its origins to ancient Greek and Eastern instruments.

Day 15. Olympia, Greece (B)
This morning you’ll tour the site of ancient Olympia. You’ll see ruins not only of athletic structures like the stadium, gymnasium, and wrestling school, but also several temples.
Marvel at the magnificent earthquake-tumbled Temple of Zeus, which contained a huge statue of the god that was one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.
After lunch on your own, join us on a visit with a typical Greek family.
The remainder of the day is your at leisure.

Day 16. Nauplia, Greece (B)
Your transfer to Nauplia is a scenic drive across the mountains of Arcadia . You pass the ancient towns of Megalopolis and Tripoli to reach the green plains of Argolis. You’ll make a stop for lunch on your own.
Continue on to visit ancient Corinth, an affluent Greco-Roman center. Though most of the ancient buildings have been ruined by earthquakes, there is still a lovely sixth-century B.C. temple to Apollo. You arrive in Nauplia in late afternoon.
Dinner is on your own.

Day 17. Nauplia, Greece (B,D)
After breakfast, set off on an excursion to the ruined city of Mycenae, one of the most ancient cities of Greece. Ruins here include the famous Lion’s Gate (entrance to the city), acropolis, palace, and several royal beehive tombs and shaft tombs.
After lunch on your own, you’ll visit a local Ceramic Gallery where you can see a large variety of excellent museum copies and learn about ancient Greek pottery.
You’ll then visit the ancient theater of Epidaurus, the legendary home of Aesculapius, Greek god of medicine and healing. Here you’ll see the fantastic and perfectly proportioned circular 2,300-year-old theater.
Tonight enjoy your farewell dinner at a local Taverna with music and wine.

Day 18. Nauplia , Greece—Home (B)
This morning transfer from Nauplia to Athens for your flight home.
